Pound signs in cells where there were numbers after saving an Excel file. First, I do not think this is a formatting problem or that the column width isn't wide enough. I created a several spreadsheets in a workbook, which worked fine. I saved it. Months later I opened the file. The numbers in the cells had been replaced with pound signs (###).

Open Control panel / Region and Language / Keyboards and Languages Tab / Change Keyboards Button. In the Installed Services section, make sure that EN English (United States) is the top level layout. If there are other keyboard layouts in that section and the EN is not at the top level, select EN and use the Move Up button.

Now I have checked and I am using the UK English keyboard, been through all the settings and definitely using UK keyboard so I am stumped and any help would be appreciated. I can cope with the" and the @ switch but it is very awkward not being able to get the pound sign. Using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Regards. Andrew

Hi Nickie611, there is a known bug in the 1803 version of Windows 10. Right click your Start Button, choose Powershell (admin) Paste this command into Powershell and hit Enter: $1 = New-WinUserLanguageList en-GB. Paste this command into Powershell and hit Enter: Set-WinUserLanguageList $1. Close Powershell and restart your PC.
